Hello there! I've really been slacking on blogging but I'm still around. I wanted to share two hats that I sent out about a month ago for boy/girl preemie twins!! So cute! These babies, like all the babies, have been in my thoughts.

I was on Facebook today and one of my friends had posted an article about the American Heart Association starting a project to donate red hats for the newborns/preemies born at Edward and Elmhurst Hospitals to spread awareness of heart disease.  Well SSK must participate!!  Time to buy some red yarn!! Can't wait to get started.  Here is the article if anyone else is interested:

Hello there!! I first want to start out by thanking everyone who has donated to Sweet Savannah Knits!!!! It means the world to me and helps tremendously with cost of yarn and shipping. Especially shipping costs!!!!! Without your generous donations I wouldn't be able to send out these hats to the NICU babies. So thank you!!!!

I wanted to share a teddy bear hat that I just shipped out a few days ago for a beautiful baby boy who weighed 4 pounds 9 ounces at birth. Like always the teddy bear hats seem to be a favorite!! I hope this hat keeps him cuddly warm and his parents get some adorable pictures of him wearing it.

These pink and aqua little hats were sent to twin girls both weighing less then 2 pounds at birth
To both of your families, I've been thinking of you all, especially your baby girls. Sending you so much love!!

Savannah's 2nd birthday

Hello everyone! I know that it has been awhile since I've written anything but I'm still around!  I wanted to share a picture of a little teddy bear hat I made about a week ago for a very special baby girl.  Her mommy found my website and wrote me an email asking if I would make her little girl a hat because her daughter was recently diagnosed with Triploidy, the same disorder Savannah had. She wanted something special for her sweet baby to wear when she is born.  This is actually my second request from a pregnant mommy who found out their baby had this devastating disorder.  It breaks my heart but I feel blessed that I can do something for them.
These tiny babies have such a special place in my heart.  They are always in my thoughts...

Today is Savannah's 2nd birthday!! I can not believe that it has been 2 years since that day that I delivered her.  There is not a moment that goes by that I don't think about my sweet girl.  My life has been changed for the better since she has been born and I will forever be thankful for that.  I miss you baby girl. I hope you had a great 2nd birthday up in Heaven!!!

Nolan Scott

Hi there!!!!  So it has been forever since I last wrote a blog. I have been MIA because of the birth of our beautiful rainbow baby boy!!! Nolan Scott was born November 29th at 10:23am weighing 8 pounds 14.4 ounce and 21 inches long!!!  He is such a blessing and we couldn't be happier. He is a great little brother to Savannah. Here he is:

We feel absolutely so blessed!!!  I'm not going to lie it has been an adjustment having an infant in the house but we are developing a routine and love watching him grow!!!!
I've been away from Sweet Savannah Knits for the last couple months as I did not have time to knit but now that I've adjusted I'm ready to start knitting for the tiny babies again.  This past weekend I received a request for a precious baby boy in the NICU. I knitted him a little blue hat and made him a Teeny Tears ( diaper as well. My thoughts and heart is with him and his family.
If you or someone you know has a baby in the NICU please contact me and I would love to send them a special hat/bootie set.

Sweet Savannah Knits Makes a Donation!

Last year around this time I was a busy bee knitting up Christmas hats to donate to the Preemie Project ( The Preemie Project collects and donates hats/booties/blankets and all kinds of things to NICU's in the Iowa area.  I loved loved loved doing this donation because the hats and booties turned out so cute and I just know they brought smiles to the parents that have babies in the NICU during the holidays.  As much as I would love to make such a large donation again this year, I just won't have the time to complete so many with our own little bundle coming in just 3 weeks (or if he's ready, possibly sooner).  I decided that I wanted to be sure Sweet Savannah Knits contributed and helped this holiday season so we did just make a 50 dollar donation to the "Black Friday" donation fund to the Preemie Project!!!! Every year on Black Friday they go out to the fabric stores and purchase tons and tons of supplies at extremely cheap prices. These materials are used to make blankets, sleepers, hats, you name it, all year for the tiny babies. They have workshops during the year to sew!! I was so proud to give some of SSK's money to them with all that they do!!! Check out their website for more info on them!  Even with this donation I do hope I can at least send a couple Christmas hats/booties their way this year!!

We received a teddy bear hat request for a little boy born at 34 weeks weighing in at 6 pounds yesterday!! He is a great weight but still needs breathing assistance. I started his little hat this morning and will show pictures when it's finished!
We are getting close for baby D2's arrival!!! Official c section date is December 3rd. Three weeks away from tomorrow!!!  Tomorrow is my first weekly doctors visit and I'll start getting NST every week. Just to make sure his heart rate sounds good and he's not in any kind of distress in there.
Last weekend we had our 2nd baby shower!! We are ALL set for baby that is for sure! The past week I've been a crazy nester putting everything away and going back and forth to Buy Buy Baby making sure we have everything we need for his home coming!! Here are some pictures from our absolutely beautiful shower. Thank you to my Mom and big Sis for such a wonderful day!!!
