March for Babies and Chicago Tribune

Today was a great day!!! First I want to start out by giving a big THANK YOU to my friend Lisa!!! She nominated me to be in the Remarkable Women section in the Chicago Tribune and I was in it!! The article was in the Sunday Tribune today.  I was in the "Reader Nomination" section and I could not feel more special and honored!!! Lisa, you are such a great friend!! You have been there so much for me in the past year and you have helped me tremendously with my healing! You are such a great person = )  Not only do I feel great that I have such awesome people in my life, I'm also so happy that infant loss/prematurity/birth defects awareness and my mission at SSK is being spread! When starting SSK and this blog one of my main missions was to simply spread awareness. I want people to know that these things happen and show that there are ways to help. Even if it's from sending out hats to actually being part of research! Everything, small or big, helps!!!

                                                                Here's the article

Today was also the March for Babies walk in Naperville. I want to give another big THANK YOU to all our family and friends that donated and/or walked to support such a great cause. March of Dimes will always be so dear to my heart now.  So many tiny babies are saved due to all the hard work and research March of Dimes does.  Today Me, Scott and our family/friends wore three different color beads. Each one had its own meaning as to why we were walking.

The white beads stand for infant loss, pink beads stand for prematurity and the purple beads stand for birth defects. We all donated and walked today to END all three of these beads!!!! Scott and I have been touched by all Three..... And if there is anything I can do to help stop this from happening you better believe I'm doing it!  Today was all around a great day and I know Savannah is smiling down on her family.  I live my life for you baby girl!! I love you so much...

Teeny Tears Blankets

I've been a busy bee these last couple days! Newest project- the Teeny Tears Blankets! Like I promised in the previous post here they are!! I just love them. I'm making them to be 12x12 for the little micro preemies. Well they are pretty close to 12x12 haha some maybe a quarter inch off, bigger/smaller, as I'm not the best sewer but close enough! Here is what I've completed so far:

I just need to finish the diaper sets for each blanket!! If any of you like to sew check out www.teenytears.blogspot.com. There are many hospitals that take these cute items.

We Have Reached 30 Hat/Bootie Sets!!!!!

I'm happy to announce that I have officially sent out 30 hat/bootie set gifts to the tiny babies!!!! I hope this has brought many smiles to the parents faces = ) I could not have done this without all my AWESOME supporters!!!

Here is hat/bootie set # 30!!!!! This set was sent to a little 5lb 12oz cutie named Ava.

I recently realized that Teeny Tears also has a tiny blanket pattern that you can make to match the diaper sets. I love this idea because normal sized blankets are big for these itsy bitsy babies. I remember when they wrapped Savannah up in the pink hand knit blanket to allow us to cradle her, the blanket just swallowed her up. She of course still looked perfect and so cute!
So naturally I went straight to the fabric store and bought some more fabric to get going on this. I have a ton of fabric already cut to make the diapers but now don't have enough of that same pattern to make matching blankets. So I needed more!!  Here they are:

The blankets can be made 10x10 or 12x12 for the smaller diapers or 18x18 for the larger diapers. I can't wait to get started on these!! I'll be sure to post a picture when I get a few done.
Here is the pattern:

Newest Creation

Hi again!! I just finished this little pants and headband set and I'm very proud of it = ) haha!!! I decided I would give it to someone for a 25 dollar donation.  All the proceeds go directly back to helping with yarn and shipping costs!!  So not only are you getting these cute knits but you are also helping a great cause.

The pattern for the pants is from Posh Patterns (http://www.etsy.com/shop/PoshPatterns). When you purchase her patterns it states you can give/sell the items you make from her patterns as long as you post her Etsy shop. Check it out!!

This set is size 0-3 months. The colors are teal and off white. The flower on the headband has the same color as the pants so it all blends. Great as a photo prop or just everyday wear. Love it!

First person to email me at sweetsavannahknits@gmail.com gets this cute set!!   Thanks guys!!

29 gifts have been sent out!

Good morning everyone! Well spring is almost here or maybe not. We have had a couple nice days and then it gets cold again. A little tease?? I definitely have spring fever! I can't wait to get out there and plant flowers in my little flower pots and wear flip flops. = )  I hope everyone had a great Easter. I had so much fun seeing all the pictures of the babies wearing their Sweet Savannah Knits bunny hats. Thank you to all the mommies for sending me pictures of them. It made my Easter so much better. Holidays are very hard for me as I always wish Savannah was here to do all the traditional things. I would do anything to have colored Easter Eggs with her (even though she would still be a little young).  On Easter day there was a post on facebook from a girl I went to high school with. Her post was complaining that she "hates Easter grass" (obviously complaining because the grass was probably messy and all over the house) and to have a happy "freakin" Easter (her words, not mine).  This outraged me!!!! She was complaining about Easter grass???? How about she be happy she is spending Easter morning with her children!!!!!!! Some aren't so lucky...... I would throw Easter grass ALL over my house, even if it took hours to clean up, to have spent Easter morning with my daughter.  There are so many more things to worry about in life then complaining about Easter grass all over your house. I definitely don't want this blog to be negative but I wanted to bring this up just as a reminder to everyone-   Everyone be thankful and feel blessed for your children. Please don't sweat the small things!!!

This week I completed and mailed out two sets for two beautiful babies! The first set went to a little cutie named Zoey who was born at just 23 weeks weighing 1lb 5oz. What a miracle! Everyone please say a little prayer that baby Zoey grows big and strong!

The second set went to a baby boy named Kian! He is about 7.5 pounds and was born with Downs Syndrome.  Keep him in your thoughts and I hope he loves his teddy bear hat and teddy bear!

I decided last week that I needed to make little tags to attach to the gifts so I can write who it is for and who had requested it (if it was not the parents).  I also made up info cards that explains Sweet Savannah Knits' mission. I realized that sending the packages with no information maybe confusing. Plus, to me,  the story behind SSK is as important as the gift itself. I want the parents to know the meaning behind my knits and Savannah's story = ) Here is the info card:

If you click on the image it will get bigger and you will be able to read it

I want to give a big thank you to those that have donated in the last week!! I know I keep saying it but I am so thankful for you all. The more donations I receive the more gifts I can send out. It also allows me to do send extra items such as the teddy bears. If anyone has any other ideas of fun items I can send with my packages please let me know!

What else has been going on???    Well Scott and I are on the marketing team for the SHARE walk! The walk will be on October 12, 2013 this year. I'm so excited to be on this team and to help out. We have been to a few meetings and the planning has begun! This walk means so much to angel parents like Scott and I. It is a special day/event dedicated just to our little angels.

I want to give a HUGE CONGRATS to my friend's Chris and Anna Stroh on the birth of their beautiful baby girl Rhiannon Victoria!!! She is so perfect and so adorable. I could not be more happy for them.  Congrats guys and I can't wait to meet her = )

Everyone please pray for one of my best friends, Courtney, her Mom and family. Mrs. Webb is currently in hospice care.  She is one of the sweetest, nicest and strongest women I know.  You are all in my thoughts constantly.....
